Reduplicatives are "double-barrelled" words and phrases that rhyme or echo: examples are snail mail, wacky baccy, knick-knack, hocus-pocus, ding-dong, rugger bugger and vicar's knickers. In this edition of Hocus-Pocus more than 600 examples of the species have been assembled. They include not only contemporary usages but curiosities from the past such as cherry-merry and Pragger-Wagger. Chaucer, Shakespeare and Cole Porter are among those who have contributed to the quotations.
